Anita Mary (Richard) Rollins

BROWNVILLE JCT. – Anita Mary (Richard) Rollins, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at a Bangor nursing home. She was born to the late Albert and Clare (Poirier) Richard on August 15, 1923.
Anita graduated from Brownville Junction High School. She married Maynard B. Rollins on February 5, 1946.
Anita found great joy in fishing, hiking, and camping with her family at Gulf Hagus and Jo-Mary Lake. Her grandchildren have great memories of the fun escapades with grammy.
Anita was an avid walker. People would find her miles from home visiting friends or enjoying her nature walks. She loved animals, especially her nephew Paul’s German Shepherd who often came to visit her home, finding his way across the railroad tracks, and her niece Cheryl’s cats who visited her doorsteps. Deer and birds surrounded her home, much to her delight. Anita had a special communion with nature and its wildlife.
Anita was a homemaker and passionate about her family and friends being comfortable and well taken care of. She was a generous spirit with more thoughts of others’ comfort rather than her own.
Anita is survived by two children, Karen Rollins of Brownville Junction, and James Rollins of Alexandria, VA; she is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial visitations will be held 12 noon until time of service at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the Lary Funeral Home, Milo, with Deacon Fred Harrigan officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Pinetree Cemetery, Brownville Jct., in the spring. Condolences and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
