Snowmobile race and housing rehab on Greenville selectmen’s Wednesday agenda

Staff Report

GREENVILLE — The Greenville Board of Selectmen has a rather light agenda to deal with at their Wednesday, March 5 meeting.
A representative of the West Cove Ice Racing Association will meet with the board to update them on the USCC snowmobile races coming up Saturday, March 8. The ice racers are helping to organize the snowmobile event, a cross-country event that’s expected to draw hundreds of spectators to the Greenville Junction area. The organizers are asking the town to plow the junction wharf to allow space for the racers to set up.

This will be the third year that USCC will hold a sanctioned cross-country event on Moosehead Lake.
Town Manager John Simko will also present the request for proposals (RFP) for a community housing rehabilitation grant. The town received a $300,000 CBDG grant to run a housing rehabilitation program for low and moderate income homeowners back in 2004 and the local match was provided with leveraged funds from other home improvement programs.
Simko told the board at their last meeting that there are several homes that still need repair and are being adversely affected by the extreme cold and high cost of heating oil
The town will also discuss the solid waste hauling contract currently held by Sean Bolen’s Moosehead Rubbish, due to expire June 30.
A list of foreclosed properties will be presented by the town manager and Town Clerk Roxanne Lizotte, with details on each account.
They are recommending that a letter be sent to all former owners of now-foreclosed properties to give them deadline to either buy the property back or enter into an installment contract before the town goes to bid to sell the properties.
The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m.
