Upcoming regional Grange events
On Thursday, March 6 area Grange Members meet with the GrowME Team at Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) at 1 p.m. All volunteers are welcome for the final meeting before activities begin during Ag Week. March 6 Piscataquis Pomona Grange meets at Valley Grange, 172 Guilford Center Road in Guilford. All area Grange members are invited to a potluck upper at 6 p.m. with meeting to follow at 7. For more information contact Bill Bemis at 924-3537.
Wednesday, March 12: Ag Day at the Maine State House, Jim and Mary Annis will be representing Valley Grange and would like to take fudge made by Grangers and friends. Contact them at 564-0820 to arrange delivery.
Monday, March 17: Valley Grange and PCES team up to collect “Coups for Troops.” We’re encouraging everyone to help by clipping coupons you won’t need and dropping them in the collection bin at PCES or at the Valley Grange Hall. Friday, March 21: Valley Grange Members and Bookworms attend the Newspapers in Education Awards Assembly at PCES at 2 p.m. in the cafeteria. Third- and fourth-graders and their teachers will learn the winners of the advertising contest who will have their ads placed in the Piscataquis Observer’s special supplement on March 26. Kindergarteners will help make animal graphs and first-graders will experience apple sorting and tasting in conjunction with the GrowME Agricultural Program. March 28: Valley Grange will host a celebration of GrowME completion for volunteers and participants with everyone invited — parents, kids, teachers, volunteers.
