PCSWCD board election results
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Each year, the Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) holds an election of officers at the January meeting. The outcome of this year’s election is as follows:
Gordon Moore was reelected to serve as board chairman. Gordon has served on the board for 12 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the PCSWCD. In addition to his role on the board, Moore serves as the Piscataquis County district forester for the Maine Forest Service. He has been instrumental in implementing a number of conservation programs and technical trainings, the latest being a skidder bridge construction workshop which produced skidder bridges available for rent to licensed foresters and certified logging professionals.
Toby Hall was voted to become vice chairman. Hall has served the PCSWCD since 2013. He owns and operates Hall’s Christmas Tree Farm and has diversified educational offerings by putting on Tree Pruning Workshops and maintains Christmas trees at the Law Farm property. He is an invaluable asset to the PCSWCD and offers information and experience to the many conservation management endeavors.
Janet Sawyer was reelected to serve as treasurer. Sawyer has served the PCSWCD since 2013. She is the business development director for the Piscataquis County Economic Development Council and has provided her expertise to the PCSWCD on developing diverse and sustainable agriculture for a strong economy. Sawyer continues to guide the PCSWCD in a business-smart direction towards success and is a valued member of the board.
These officers, in conjunction with fellow board members Sam Brown, Donna Coffin and Pete Robinson, help the PCSWCD carry out its mission to be a leader in agriculture and forestry, by providing education and technical assistance to promote conservation of the natural resources upon which we depend.
