HOOD, Mary I., 81, Milo, at Orono, January 27, 2014. A graveside funeral service will be conducted in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Milo.

Mary I. Hood

    MILO – Mary I. Hood, 81, died January 27, 2014, at Orono Commons in Orono. She was born September 30, 1932, in Houlton, the daughter of Ralph A. and I. Madeline (Cary) Hood.
    Mary received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine and a Master’s degree from the University of Vermont. She taught instrumental music for 35 years in Howland, and upon retirement in 1990, traveled through much of the United States and Canada. She was an active member of the Milo Methodist Church and made many charitable contributions of time and money.
    She is survived by a brother, George Hood and his wife, Judith, of Laramie, WY; three cousins, Errol Estes Jr. of Brownville Jct., William Estes of Ellsworth, and Charlene Pender of Milo; several nieces and nephews; long time friends, Kay and Wally Sinclair of Brownville; and many former students.
    A graveside funeral service will be conducted in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Milo. Condolences and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
