FOR THE PLAYGROUND — Riley M. Lizotte Memorial School Playground Project Treasurer Prudy Richards stands in front of the existing playground behind the Greenville Consolidatde School, after the project recently received a $2,500 grant from the Plum Creek Foundation.
The Greenville Consolidated School plans to renovate its current playground in dedication of Lizotte, who passed away suddenly in the spring of 2013. Born with pulmonary atresia in 2000, Lizotte endured five open heart surgeries over the course of his life.
“There are many benefits to building this playground, but our primary goal is to help the town heal,” said Prudy Richards, project treasurer. “Thanks to the help of the Plum Creek Foundation, we can offer our residents a beautiful playground in honor of Riley.”
The Riley M. Lizotte Memorial School Playground will serve the school’s approximate 200 students and their families. The upgrades will include purchasing and installing new equipment. The playground is scheduled to open in July.
The mission of the Riley M. Lizotte Memorial school playground is to bring the community together to heal by renovating the school’s playground.
