STROUT, Lorna Isabelle Wallace, 92, of Brewer, on January 21, 2013. Spring interment will be in the Snows Corner Cemetery, Hermon. Arrangements are in the care of the Brookings-Smith Funeral Home, Bangor.

Lorna Isabelle Wallace Strout

    BREWER – Lorna Isabelle Wallace Strout, 92, went home to be with the Lord on January 21, with family by her side. She was born September 17, 1920, in Milbridge, to Capt. Alonzo and Marjorie Wallace.

    Lorna graduated from Milbridge High School in 1938 as Salutatorian of her class. She married her high school sweetheart, Jake, and happily resided in Hermon for most of their married years with their children, Stephen and Susan, and their dog, Taffy. Lorna and Jake enjoyed square dancing, playing golf, and spending time at their family camp on Spring River Lake. Following the death of her beloved husband, Lorna moved to Bradford Commons in Bangor where she made new friends. As a lover of Jesus, Lorna faithfully attended Glad Tidings Church where she served as a Sunday school secretary. At this time, she courageously, began a secretarial career at Husson’s ICLS Program where she met students from various countries; she loved her work there. When asked what she would like to do, Lorna would reply that she wanted to be with the family. She was devoted to all of them, appreciating the uniqueness of each one. Lorna’s heart was strengthened and encouraged as she learned more about God and continued to spend time with loved ones. Sewing for others, watching the Celtics, and discussing politics were also enjoyable to her.

    In addition to her parents and her husband, Earl “Jake” Strout, Jr., Lorna was predeceased by her brother, Carroll; her sister, Kathryn Griffin; and her brother, Robert. She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Ann Hand and husband, Bud; and by her sisters-in-law, Bette and Margaret Wallace; sons, Stephen, of Bangor and wife, Morelle, Michael of Tucson, AZ, Stephen K. of Thomas Station, TN, and wife, Angela and their children, Satchel and Cecily, Robert of Bangor and wife, Melissa and their children, RJ, Tom and Kaeli; daughter, Susan Nickerson of Norway and husband, Edward “Nick”, and their daughter, Jennifer Padgett of South Paris and husband, Jeffrey and their children, Jake, Jonah, Juliese Yueyin and Joelle Fuqi.

    The family thanks the staff of Kindred Transitional and Rehab Center of Brewer for their care, support and friendship.

    Funeral Services were held 2 p.m., Sat., Jan. 26, 2013, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with Ron Morris, Senior pastor of Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church, officiating. Relatives and friends were invited to call from 12 p.m. until time of service. Spring interment will be in the Snows Corner Cemetery, Hermon.
