GFWC/Miosac Club learns about Penquis

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — President Betsey Ryan welcomed 12 members to the January meeting at Thayer Parkway. Diane Leighton introduced the speaker of the evening, Renae Muscatell from Penquis. Muscatell gave an overview of services Penquis provides. She showed a video of success stories from some programs available.

    Leona Dow lead the collect, American’s Creed and the  Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary and treasurer’s reports were given.

    Roxy McClauflin read thank you notes from  Kiwanis Elves, Maine Youth Fellowship and the Piscataquis Regional YMCA. A letter was read from the American Mural Project requesting monetary donations. Members donated watches for the mural  in the past.

    Dot Finnemore reported on the annual local  high school art show to be held March 24.

    Items were donated to Newborns in Need by Vicki Moschella and Betty Harvey.

    The Sebec Ice Out Contest was discussed and members voted to continue the fundraising project. Tickets will be on sale the middle of February. Barb Glover agreed to continue to be chairperson.

    The club’s special project was discussed with a few options and the matter will be decided at the next meeting. The Feb. 5 meeting will be held at Vicki Mocschella’s “doll house.”

    Public service announcements were snow golf at the golf course on Feb. 9.

    The meeting was adjourned and hostesses Dow, Cathy Goodine and McGlauflin served delicious refreshments.
