PORTLAND – Barbara Jones, 77, of Portland, passed away on November 4, 2013 after a short illness. She grew up in Kingsbury, ME, with her siblings Donald Gourley, Mona Pensiero, Robert Gourley and Joannie Pukkinen.
Barbara loved to spend time with her family and friends. Her door was always open and she had a reputation for caring. Her gifts of giving and loving others were the hallmark for the care she provided. She was known for her kindness and positive outlook. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her heart knew no bounds. Those who had the opportunity to know her were impacted by the love she showed others.
Barbara enjoyed the outdoors, road trips and new adventures. She had many stories of trips and daring feats. She had a strong faith and faced her illness bravely.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents Roland and Avis (Bowdin) Gourley, her husband Wayne Jones and her brother Donald Gourley.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her children, Lily Martin of Ormond Beach, FL, Joy Buzzell of Portland, Wanda Prunty of South Portland, and Joseph Buzzell of Portland; as well as ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and numerous close nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters, Mona Pensiero, Joannie Pulkkinen; and her brother, Robert Gourley and many friends.
