American Flag ColorMILO – Ralph A. Carey, 96, husband of the late Margaret G. (Bellingham) Carey, died November 4, 2013, at Eastern Maine Medical Center. He was born December 10, 1916, in Milo, the son of Harry John and Lizzie D. (Clark) Carey. Ralph was a graduate of Milo High School.
    He was a veteran of World War II in the Royal Canadian Air Force which he joined prior to the U.S. entering the war. During the war he was an airplane mechanic in England where he met his future wife, Margaret. They married in September of 1943. After his return to the states, he worked for many years as a mechanic for Richardson’s Garage in Milo.  Later he worked for American Thread Co. and after the mill closed, he worked for James River Chip Mill as a manager until his retirement.
    He is survived by his niece, Ruth (Carey) Janeski of Granby, CT; his nephew, Richard R. Carey of Pittsfield; and his sister-in-law, Joan Weymouth of Brownville Jct.
    He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret; and his brother, Harry V. Carey.
    A graveside committal service was conducted 11 a.m., Friday, November 8, 2013, at the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery, Milo, with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to P.A.W.S., 39 Clinton St., Milo 04463. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
