July 4 events around the region

The Sebec Village Associates will have a day of events on the Fourth of July next week, with proceeds benefiting the Reading Room. The day on Thursday, July 4 starts with a breakfast at the Sebec Village Community Christian Church at 7:30 a.m.

The annual five kilometer (3.1 miles) road race starts at 8 a.m., and at 10:30 a.m. will be the canoe race.

The holiday’s parade starts at 9:30 a.m. A barbecue is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Throughout the day will be a bake sale, pony rides, a table full of multiple-choice raffle prizes and other activities.

Dexter’s Independence Day events begin on Wednesday, July 3 with fireworks in-town at dusk (approximately 9 p.m.).

The town’s Fourth of July parade starts at 9:30 a.m. at the fire station. A boat parade on Lake Wassookeag will begin at 11 a.m. by the bridge.

In Greenville the Independence Day parade starts at 11 a.m. at the Industrial Park in the Junction, with the procession traveling to downtown Greenville. At 11:30 a.m. the kids bike parade joins the regular procession at the Center for Moosehead History.

The Greenville fireworks display is set for approximately 9 p.m. to be shot off from the East Cove.

In Rockwood public fireworks are scheduled for 9 p.m. at The Birches.
