Kombucha, Kvass, and Kefir workshop coming to Dexter Saturday

DEXTER — Fermentation as a method of food preservation is an increasingly popular topic, and Dexter Dover Area Towns in Transition (DDATT) is pleased that Mary Margaret Ripley (of Dover Foxcroft’s Ripley Farm) will share her fermenting knowledge and experience at a “Kombucha” workshop 10 a.m. Saturday morning, March 9 at Dexter’s Abbott Memorial Library.

Tired of sugary colas and artificially flavored drinks? At this hands-on workshop you’ll learn how to prepare naturally fizzy, flavorful and healthy beverages in your own kitchen with simple ingredients. Participants will find out why homemade refreshments like Kombucha, Beet Kvass and Kefir are easy to make and good for you.

As DDATT’s mission is to help our area increase our energy and food independence and create a more stable rural economy, we are committed to skills and ideas which can help us all take better care of our natural resources.

For more information on DDATT and future events, email info@ddatt.org to get on email news list or call 277-4221 or 924-3836.
