PO Barbara Glover OB    DOVER-FOXCROFT and MONSON – Barbara R. Glover, 85, wife of John A. Glover, passed away with grace, September 19, 2013, at her home in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born July 5, 1928, in Lowell, MA, the daughter of Kenneth B. and Marguerite (MacFadyen) Roberts. A graduate of Cranston High School, Cranston, RI, Class of 1946, she attended Rhode Island State College. In 1949, she married John A. Glover and made their home in Maine.

    She was a Certified Ski Instructor at Squaw Mountain in Greenville for 26 years, a position she enjoyed immensely. She researched the genealogical backgrounds of the Gilman, Glover, MacLean, MacFadyen, Roberts and Sisson families, and enjoyed painting their respective coats of arms. She was a past president and secretary of the Molasto Club. Barbara was very involved with her church and served as moderator of the Monson UCC, member and secretary of the Guild, as a delegate to the Maine Conference from the Monson UCC Church, auditor of the Piscataquis-Penobscot Assoc. of the Maine UCC, as scribe of the Piscataquis-Penobscot Association and its Church and Ministry Committee, and as member and co-chair of the Small Church Mission Team of the Maine Conference of UCC Churches. In the last few years, she attended the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church and had served there as clerk of the church.
    As a member of the Miosac Club, she was a founding member of the Piscataquis County Chapter of “Newborns in Need”, knitting many items to be donated to area hospitals and funeral homes. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast. The family cottage at Sebec Lake was a special place for her.
    Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, John of Dover-Foxcroft; five children, Carol G. Blanchard of Milo, Janis G. Glover and husband, Richard Beebe II, of Hamden, CT, Jeffrey B. Glover and wife, Jan, of Arvada, CO, Gail E. Glover and husband, Daniel O. Joyce, of Fairfax, VA, and John S. Glover and wife, Chiaolian of Portland; eight grandchildren, Chad and Ryan Blanchard, Evan Glover, Julia and Owen Joyce, and John A. III, Justin, and Rachel Glover. She leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Her family is forever indebted to her caregiver, Theresa Tibbetts, for the compassionate care she gave Barbara during her last days.
    A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church, with Rev. Chad Poland officiating.
