Foxcroft X-C hosts Homecoming meet
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Foxcroft Academy cross country team was in action on its own course during a meet on the afternoon of Sept. 20 in conjunction with the school’s Homecoming festivities.
The Pony boys finished with a score of 93 points, placing fourth out of five teams — ahead of the 98 for Lee Academy and behind the 79 scored by Central High School of Corinth.
Leading the way for Foxcroft was Noah Simpson. Simpson finished 11th out of 46 runners as he covered the 3.08-mile course in 20 minutes, 36.60 seconds. Next for the Ponies was Yun-Ting Tsai, 16th at 21:17.90; then Gabe Piquette, 18th at 21:51.80; Taylor Smith, 26th at 22:42.40; and Ethan Poland, 41st at 27:00.50.
Also running in the meet was William Strauch of Dexter Regional High School. His time of 20:53.20 was good for 14th place.
Connor Wagner of John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor finished in first, with a time of 17:52.80. John Bapst came in first in the team standings with 18 points, followed by Hermon High School with a score of 74 points.
Four Foxcroft girls ran on Sept. 20. Liza Grigoryeva came in seventh in a field of 28 with a time of 23:18.40. Clara Stephens was 11th at 24:23.50; Ana Sedlackhova was 20th at 29:24.60; and in 28th place was Luming Guan at 38:01.30.
The girls’ winner was Amanda Boyd of John Bapst in a time of 22:16.30. John Bapst also won the meet with 16 points, while Hermon came in second with 46 points.
