The state is paying back its bills after suspending payments to 12 communities that fronted the cost of closure and remediation for their local unlined landfills and have been waiting years for partial state reimbursement. The towns of Greenville, Shirley and Beaver Cove along with Piscataquis County shared in the closure costs and will take a percentage of each check.
