Joyce Loraine (Brown) Smith

Joyce Loraine (Brown) Smith, 81, formerly a resident of Waterville, Maine, was born December 5th, 1936, in Monson, Maine and died July 14th, 2018, in Lisbon Connecticut. She was the daughter of the late Guy and Isabella Brown. She attended Monson Academy. Joyce was a wonderful cook, enjoyed sewing, puzzles, intelligent political discussions, and was an avid reader. She enjoyed trips to Prince Edward Island as well as listening to Engelbert Humperdinck and Andre Rieu. She died peacefully at her daughter’s home after a brief bout with lung cancer. Joyce is survived by her husband William D. Smith, her daughter Susanne Fowler and her husband Michael, and sons Sodd (Buddy) Ammeen and Guy Ammeen and his wife Cindi-Jo. She also leaves behind three granddaughters; Jessica Chartier, Marisa Wolverton, and Lillianna Ammeen, as well as her sister, Barbara Lary, and brothers Dale and wife Lynnita Brown and Colby and wife Marion Brown, beloved friends Joy (Andie) Robbins and Barbara Caron, special niece Patsy Roberts, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Special thanks to family friend Renee Sheppo for aiding in Joyce’s end of life care. Joyce is predeceased by her brothers Robert, George, Gilbert, Clayton, and Donald Brown. Her surviving siblings agreed on one poignant fact; “Joyce was the feistiest of us all (nine Browns)”. A committal service will be held at 3pm Saturday, the 11th of August, 2018 in Monson at Hillside Cemetery, with a gathering of family and friends at the Abbot Town Hall immediately following. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to any local Hospice organization.
