Ruth M. (Cuttone) Smith

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Ruth M. (Cuttone) Smith died peacefully April 29, 2018 at Pleasant Meadows Assisted Living surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Anthony and Mary (McManaman) Cuttone in New York, NY August 21, 1934 and was married to George, the love of her life, for 55 years. They relocated from Nutley, NJ to Dover-Foxcroft in 1972.
She devoted her younger years to raising her 5 children and enjoyed teaching ceramics at her home studio and local schools and later worked at Hibbard’s Nursing Home as Activities Director/Social Services until retirement. She spent much of her time enjoying their cottage at Sebec Lake as well as her 11 grandchildren and one great grandson.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband George and son Daniel. She is survived by Brian Smith and wife Laurie of Dover-Foxcroft, granddaughters Ashley and Morgan, and great grandson Jace, Geralynn Towle and husband Barry of Brunswick, ME and grandsons Matthew, Dylan and Jacob, Bonnie Esty and husband Michael of Gorham, ME and granddaughters Emalee and Erin, Tim Smith and wife Karen of Dover-Foxcroft and grandchildren Anthony, Allison and Julia, and Dan’s son Michael of Delaware.
A celebration of life open house will be held Saturday, May 5 from 2:00 – 5:00 at Brian’s home, 165 Park St., Dover-Foxcroft.
