Upcoming Grange events in the Penquis area

    Thursday, Aug. 1, Piscataquis Pomona Grange will meet at the Dexter Grange Hall on Main Street, second floor with a potluck supper at 6 p.m. and program at 7 p.m. All area Granges are encouraged to attend this regional meeting. For more information contact Bill Bemis at 924-3537.

    Friday, Aug. 2, Valley Grange business meeting at 7 p.m. at the Grange Hall at 172 Guilford Center Road in Guilford. All are welcome to come see what Grange is about. For more information, visit www.valleygrange.com or call Jim Annis at 564-0820.
    Friday, Aug. 9, Garland Grange hosts a barbecue/picnic buffet from 5-7 p.m. Menu includes barbecue pork and chicken, baked beans, salads, bread and desserts. Takeout is available. For more information, call 924-6954. The Garland Grange Hall is located on Oliver Hill Road near the center of town.
    Saturday, Aug. 10, public all-meat chicken pie supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Wayside Grange in North Dexter — also serving locally grown green beans, mashed potatoes, green salad and ice cream cakes. Live dinner music by Hill Artman with a sing-along after the dishes are cleared. The Wayside Grange is located on Route 23, 851 North Dexter Road.

    Saturday, Aug. 17, Piscataquis Pomona Grange Officer Installation Program featuring State Grange Master Vicki Huff and her installation team will be held at Garland Grange. Evening begins with a chicken pie supper at 6 p.m. Officer installation program begins at 7 p.m. All Granges in the area are welcomed to participate in the installation and the public is invited to learn more about the Grange.     Wednesday, Aug. 21, area Granges set up exhibits in anticipation of the Piscataquis County Fair which runs Aug. 22-28. All area Granges are invited to exhibit, but you must reserve a space by contacting Bemis at 924-3537 to reserve a spot. Exhibits should be in place by the end of the day for judging first thing Thursday morning.
    Saturday, Aug. 24, the Sandy River Ramblers will bring their uniquely Maine bluegrass show to the Wayside Theatre/Grange starting at 7 p.m.
    The Ramblers have played many concerts in central Maine, but this will be their first Dexter show. Baked goodies and refreshments at intermission, pie auctions, a door prize and a 50/50.
    The theatre is located at 851 North Dexter Rd (Route 23).
