Bagley named PCHS Principal’s Award recipient

GUILFORD — Adam Bagley of Parkman, who also is the co-salutatorian of the Class of 2018, has been selected as the Maine Principals Association Principal’s Award winner for Piscataquis Community High School, Principal John Keane announced.

He wrote, “I live in Parkman with my parents, Roxann and Jeff, and younger brother Kyle. I have attended Piscataquis Community High School for all four years of high school and will be attending the University of Maine at Fort Kent for forest business management next year. While in high school I have participated in JV basketball freshman year as well as being a JV to varsity swinger my sophomore and junior years, senior year I was a varsity starter. I also have participated in varsity tennis from sophomore to senior year. All four years of high school I have been a member of the Envirothon Team, we achieved sixth place at the state level my junior year. I have also taken part in Key Club, Pirate Volunteer Club and the National Honor Society. In my spare time I enjoy the outdoors, I am an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoy spending time in the woods. I also am a member of the Big Pine Gun Club where I am part of a youth marksman team. I look forward to being a licensed forester for the state of Maine and being able to help manage one of Maine’s most important resources.”

Bagley and Keane are invited to attend an Honors Luncheon with other award winners and their principals at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on Saturday, April 7.

The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. McGowan and Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the MPA. An additional five $1,000 scholarships will be presented through the efforts of the MPA Scholarship Golf Tournament.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
