    SANGERVILLE – Bonnie Mae Goggin, 67, passed away peacefully July 15, 2013, at Hibbard’s Nursing home in Dover-Foxcroft after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends.
    Bonnie was born June 8, 1946, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Erwin and Patricia (Schultz) Kirk. Many of her fond childhood memories included time on the Richard’s Farm in Abbot with special aunts, uncles and cousins. In these years, Bonnie developed a fierce love and loyalty for family and friends that remained unwavering throughout her life.
    She received honors from PCHS and earned a citizenship award from the Daughters of the American Revolution, was voted to class treasurer, and in 1960, was awarded a certificate from the Maine Teachers Association for academic achievement. A member of the 4H Club and president for two years, Bonnie also belonged to the Congregational Church in Abbot where she led Sunday School.
    Bonnie’s academic success continued at Peter Bent Brigham in Boston, MA, where she earned her degree in Nursing. While she attended school, she worked as a nanny and for the Boston Pops. Hard working and focused, she graduated with honors in 1967 and was chosen by her peers and professors for the John P. Reynolds Gold Medal.
    Upon graduating, Bonnie married her 8th grade sweetheart, John Goggin, and moved to Jacksonville, FL, where she worked as a nurse while John finished his tour with the Navy. Shortly thereafter, Maine called the newly-weds home and Bonnie provided home health services to her community and continued at C.A. Dean in Greenville, Mayo Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, and found her true calling at Hibbard’s Nursing Home. She soon became the Director of Nursing where she supervised patient care with meticulous devotion for decades.
    Bonnie had two loves of her life: service to the nursing home and devotion to her family as a wife and mother. What brought her the most joy was spending time with her eight grandchildren, sharing laughter, bed time stories and unconditional love. Another passion was travel with special friends and family: from Paris, to Vegas, to Nova Scotia, Bonnie loved it all. Her retirement dream of building a farm-house to gather her loved ones came to fruition last fall.  Her memory and love fills the house in Sangerville daily.
    She is predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband and high-school sweetheart of 46 years, John Goggin of Sangerville; a son, Jason Goggin and his partner, Danielle Davis of Guilford; two daughters, Tanya Goodwin and her husband, Butch of Millis, MA, and Nicole Mahan and her husband, Ryan of Fryeburg; grandchildren, Matthew and Caroline Goggin, Samantha, Molly and Olivia Goodwin, Isaac Wakefield, Elias and Maya Mahan; a brother, Butch Kirk and his wife, Michele of Abbot; nieces and nephews; special friends, Suzanne and Kent Fortier, Bev and ‘Squeak’ Edgerly, Sharon and Mike Littlefield, Jane and Bub Merrill, and countless others.
    Friends called Thursday, July 18, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., in Guilford. Memorial services were held 10 a.m., Friday, July 19, at the Evangelical Free Church in Abbot, with Pastor Ray Beless officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Lawn Cemetery in Guilford.
