Curtis E. Chase
MILO – Curtis E. Chase, 93, husband of the late Helen (Ward) Chase of Milo, died July 20, 2013, at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. He was born October 14, 1919, in Bradford, to Harold and Jennie (Merchant) Chase.
He worked on the family farms until he went into trucking. Curtis was a truck driver all his working years; it was in his blood. After retiring he worked on and restored many antique trucks and vehicles. He belonged to the Dusters and Pine Tree Chapter of the American Truck Historical Society, and went on many tours and trips driving his antique vehicles.
Curtis was a 50 year member of Piscataquis Lodge #44 of Masons and other Masonic fraternal organizations along with Aldworth Chapter #39, Order of the Eastern Star.
Curtis is survived by his children: daughters, Phyllis Ireland and husband, David, of Veazie, and Alice Hatch and husband, Dennis, of Milo; sons, Paul Chase and wife, Shirley, of Brewer, and Gordon Chase and wife, Tina, of Milo. He had eight grandchildren, Mike Ireland, Brian Ireland, Scott Ireland, Peter Chase, Julie Royal, Theresa McMannus, Lisa Foulkes, and Jason Chase; nine great-grandchildren, Benjamin Ireland, Isabelle Ireland, Nikolas Chase, Bryson Chase, Morgan Royal, Rachel McMannus, Mariah Tuscano, Ryan Chase, Gavin Chase; and one great-great-grandson, Brody Gray. He is also survived by a sister Maxine (Chase) Hanson and a brother, Gary Chase, both of Milo. He also leaves a special family friend, Frances Coburn and special trucking buddy, Bob West.
Friends and family are invited to call 1 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the Lary Funeral Home, Milo, where a Masonic Service will be said at 2 p.m. and funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m., with Pastor Phil McGlauflin officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in his memory to Owls Head Transportation Museum, PO Box 277, Owls Head, ME 04854.
