GREENVILLE — The Greenville Board of Selectmen will meet Wednesday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m. with a rather light agenda as Code Enforcement Office Jack Hart takes the helm as interim town manager.
Gary Lamb’s last day as Greenville town manager was July 12 as he departed for three weeks’ accrued vacation and his new position as town manager of Waterboro. Lamb offered to help out during the transition period if asked.
“All the town hall crew and selectmen know I am willing to come back for a day or two with the new manager if desired,” Lamb wrote in a farewell e-mail last Friday. “Feel free to contact me at Waterboro town hall if I can help Greenville endeavors in any way.”
Waterboro is nine miles northeast of Sanford in York County and has a population of 7,693, according to the 2010 census.
Lamb also noted that he’s been coming to the Greenville area since 1978 “to hike, bike, hunt, paddle and chase large brook trout. Those endeavors will continue on weekends as long as I am able to breathe and walk.” In addition to his municipal experience in Sanford, Kennebunk and Old Orchard Beach, Lamb is also a former wildlife biologist with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife,
At the July 17 meeting, the Board of Selectmen will get an update on the proposed sale of the fixed-base operator (FBO) privileges at Greenville Municipal Airport from Max Folsom to Peter Thompson of Fletcher Mountain Aviation. The Airport Advisory Committee was scheduled meet with both parties on Monday afternoon.
Other items on the agenda include:
• A discussion of fuel pricing with A.E. Robinson Inc.;
• An initial discussion with Piscataquis County Community Development Director Ken Woodbury on an addition to connect Shaw Public Library’s main building with the annex;
• Mowing bids, set to be opened at 4 p.m. on July 12; and
• A public hearing on the town’s new comprehensive plan on Monday, Aug. 19 and a special town meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 27 on adoption of the plan.
Selectmen are also slated to appoint Hart as road commissioner, airport manager, treasurer and tax collector.
