Gubernatorial candidate Hayes endorsed by Rep. Higgins

Terry Hayes, Maine’s first independent state treasurer and independent, clean elections candidate for governor, is honored to announce the support of Rep. Norman Higgins, I-Dover-Foxcroft. Treasurer Hayes will be campaigning in Piscataquis County on Friday, Jan. 19 with Rep. Higgins who represents House District 120.

Treasurer Hayes and Rep. Higgins will tour the local hospital, several area businesses and will speak with students and faculty at Foxcroft Academy. Rep. Higgins will be making an official announcement of his support at a public open house starting at 5 p.m. at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church, where he will introduce Treasurer Hayes.

“I’m excited to support Terry because she brings a no-nonsense approach to government and she has the experience, independence, and courage to lead Maine in a bold new direction,” explained Rep. Higgins. “It was a privilege to vote for her as state treasurer, where she has maintained prudent oversight of our hard-earned tax dollars, and it is an honor to help elect Terry as Maine’s next governor.”

Rep. Higgins represents the people of Atkinson, Brownville, Dover-Foxcroft, Medford, Milo and the Plantation of Lake View, plus the unorganized territory of Orneville Township. As well as serving in the legislature he has been a teacher, principal and superintendent.

“I’m honored to have the support of my good friend Rep. Norm Higgins, who is a pillar in his district, in the education community, and indeed the state,” Hayes said. “I’m looking forward to touring Norm’s district next week, and speaking directly with local voters about their hopes and concerns for the future.”
