Early morning fire destroys camper, damages home

    DEXTER — Fire destroyed a camper and shed and seriously damaged a home on Goff Road in Dexter on July 5.
    The house, owned by Tim Mountain, was for sale and undergoing renovations, according to published reports.

    The couple who were buying the home, Everett and Justine Gray, was staying in a camper parked by the house but were not home at the time of the fire. The house was being watched by Floyd Firth and Emily Coplin, who escaped unharmed from an upstairs bedroom.
    Crews from Dexter responded to the call at 2 a.m. with mutual aid provided by the Sangerville and Corinna fire departments.
    Fire officials said that the camper and a shed were destroyed, but the house sustained primarily water damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
