United Bikers of Maine-Piscataquis County ride for the Charlotte White Center

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Recently, the United Bikers of Maine (UBM)-Piscataquis County held a fundraising ride for the Charlotte White Center. The UBM-Piscataquis County heads out on the road for non-profit organizations throughout Piscataquis County and this time it was the Charlotte White Center’s turn.

UBM-Piscataquis County not only rides for enjoyment, members ride to help those in need. On a hot and sunny morning in July, the bikers started their ride to benefit the Charlotte White Center in Dover-Foxcroft by traveling to Mount Katahdin and Millinocket and ending their ride back at the administration building.

The clients and staff of Charlotte White Center were thrilled when 20-plus bikes carrying a group of UBM members rode into the parking lot. A BBQ celebration with hamburgers and hotdogs ensued and both organizations mingled and shared stories.

UBM-Piscataquis County, currently a 90-plus member group, raised $1,200 for the Charlotte White Center and its services, which range from day program services to residential services for individuals with cognitive or developmental disabilities, behavioral or mental health issues or acquired brain injuries. UBM-Piscataquis County raised funds through a donation for the riders to participate, selling T-shirts, gaining sponsorships, etc., with all monies raised going to the Charlotte White Center.

The clients and staff a were very grateful for the biker’s generosity and many hugs and smiles were shared.

The UBM is a motorcyclist’s rights organization, within all 16 counties and having over 2,000 members statewide, that represents all motorcyclists — regardless of the brand of motorcycle ridden. There are many different people who share one common thread; they ride and love motorcycles. UBM membership is open to anyone who cares about protecting their rights as a motorcyclist.
