Piscataquis County Democrats news

The Piscataquis County Democrats held a recent monthly meeting on Sept. 9 at the Shaw Public Library in Greenville. The meeting was chaired by John Contreni of Greenville and attended by members from Dover-Foxcroft, Orneville, Atkinson, Kokadjo and Guilford.

Business included planning for the fall dinner at the East Sangerville Grange on Oct. 14. The meal will include ham, beans, turkey, macaroni and cheese, side dishes and a variety of pies for dessert. A social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with dinner to follow. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to hear from candidates for the 2018 gubernatorial election as well as candidates for the Second District Congressional seat.

New T-shirts will be available at the dinner and will feature a logo designed by Jerry Stelmok. Tickets for the dinner are available at https://secure.actblue.com/donate/pcdcfallfundraiser17.

Other business included planning for a November educational forum and ongoing community service projects. Additionally, the committee was joined by its new Democratic staffer Tahmoor Kahn, who will be working throughout Piscataquis, Penobscot and Aroostook counties over the next year in preparation for the 2018 election. The committee also enjoyed meeting Tim Rich who is a candidate for the Second District seat.

The next monthly meeting of the Piscataquis County Democrats will be held on at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7 in the community room at Dover-Foxcroft’s municipal building on Morton Avenue. All are welcome.
