HELPING GET KIDS HOOKED ON FISHING — Approximately $1,300 was raised through a sporting goods prize drawing to benefit the area’s Hooked on Fishing program, which helps gets youth involved in the activity, during an open house at the newly-opened Mountain’s Sport Shop in Dover-Foxcroft over the Labor Day weekend. Manager Kerr Kickson is pictured handing Hooked on Fishing organizer Jim Ellis a check, and Dickson, Ellis and store owner Jerry Colbry thank all who entered the drawing. Winners are Savage Axis 308 rifle with a Bushnell scope, Larry Hooper; Gazelle Portable Gazebo, J.R. Dow.; and $25 gift cards, Chuck Martell, T.J. Goodine, Eli Bickford and David Northup. In early October the Gravel Pit Pond in Greenville, Drummond Pond in Abbot, Kiwanis Park Pond in Dover-Foxcroft and Harris Pond in Milo will each be stocked with brook trout for young anglers to catch.
