Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis annual auction July 27-30

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis announces its annual auction will be July 27-30 with many old traditions along with new ideas and exciting events.

The auction, now in its 67th year, is one of Piscataquis County’s most waited for events — multiple nights of meeting up with old friends, a frenzy of bidding on bargains galore, great food, and a chance to help Kiwanis support kids of the community through many projects.

This year will see specialized and dedicated nights of items all found on “Terrific Thursday,” “Fabulous Friday,” “Super Saturday,” and “Sensational Barn Sale Sunday.” Each night will include a variety of antiques and featured and specialty items along with many and much appreciated corporate sponsor donations.

Included already are a fully outfitted antique claw foot tub, vintage bureaus, bed frames, chairs, and fine furniture for every room of house – from the basement to the attic. There even is a complete kitchen with refrigerator, electric stove, and the sink. A beautiful corner lighted curio cabinet will have the heart beating and push attendees into a bidding frenzy … along with many more amazing and like new bargains arriving daily.

The Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis has recently secured Red Sox and Sea Dog tickets, a wine basket, a gorgeous handmade quilt, a handsome braided rug, and a sailboat.

New this year will be a silent auction all three nights, packed full of delightful items and bargains new and old for bidding and first time the live auction will feature celebrity auctioneers.

Back by popular demand will be the Sensational Barn Sale on Sunday, July 30 from 1-4 p.m. This will be an everything goes cash and carry sale with an opportunity for the public to tour the barn and make offers on anything remaining. All legitimate offers will be accepted.

The auction will tout all of the normal exciting activities including the Bargain Barn, an inside yard sale run by and supporting the Foxcroft Academy Key Club, “Fill a Bag” of goodies, the Book Barn filled with thousands of books — especially cookbooks, movies, DVDs and CDs — all supporting the same local Kiwanis charities.

The food trailers will be fully stocked and ready with Kiwanis hot dogs, burgers, regular and sweet potato fries, and dough boys. The Beverage Express will be there for those who don’t want to wait in line but need a cold drink quickly.

A maple baked bean supper on Saturday will be complete with maple beans, cole slaw, hot dogs, rolls, and ice cream bars. That night and other evening will feature a 50/50 raffle.

Kiwanis raffle tickets are ready now – with the prizes drawn on Saturday night, July 29. This year prizes include three cash prizes of $500 and $100.

Thanks go to the following businesses where Kiwanians are selling tickets: Bangor Savings Bank, the Maine Highland Federal Credit Union, Shaw’s/Osco and Will’s Shop ‘n Save. Tickets can also be purchased from any Kiwanis member and during the auction.

To donate items, please call Dennis Lyford at 564-3371. Additionally, Kiwanis members will be at the Piscataquis Valley Fairgrounds each Tuesday evening from 5:30-7:30 to accept drop-off items or to make pick-ups.
