SeDoMoCha Elementary recognizes its 50 volunteers

    DOVER-FOXCROFT — Throughout the school year about 50 volunteers, including parents, grandparents, Foxcroft Academy students and others, have been giving of their time to assist at the SeDoMoCha Elementary School in over 75 different areas. On the morning of May 24 these volunteers were thanked for all their efforts during a reception and presentation before the entire school.

    “This year we had over 50 volunteers in our school,” Principal Julie Kimball said during the opening remarks. “We are so very grateful to have so many wonderful people in and out of our school all year.”
    The teachers for each grade then stepped forward to name their classroom volunteers, with those present asked to stand. For pre-K Mrs. Bisson recognized Chantel Clark, Jason Clark, Roxanna Larrabee, Leah Brown, Vicki Wolfertz and Gina Saggau, while Mrs. McBride’s volunteers were Amy Case, Alysson White, Bonnie Dunaway, Yolanda Martini and Theresa Makowski.   
    “Our volunteers helped with the gingerbread houses and other activities,” Mrs. Catell said about those assisting in kindergarten classrooms. These individuals included Mrs. Catell: Andrea Thurlow, Angie Snow, Erin Smith, Keri Vigue and Shannen Rhoda; Miss Pangburn: Thurlow, Alexis Topolski, Janet Currie and Donna Caruso; Mrs. Tapley: Robin Brochu, Nina Pratt, Allison Bagley, Teresa Arnold, Andrea Kelly and Kat Batey; and Mrs. Taylor: Samantha Greenlaw and Carol Garland.
    Grade 1 volunteers recognized were Mrs. Goodman: Mia Smith; Miss Madore: Brigette Teachout, Bethany Downs, Caruso and Rayfield; Miss Nelson: Jaymi Wood: and Mrs. Wentworth: Caruso and Heather Whitten.
    Those volunteering in grade 2 were Mrs. Lewis: Dan Porter, Lynette Urquhart, Brandi Gregory and Amber Lewis; Mrs. Munson: Miranda Church and Abigail Harmon; Mr. Murray: Pratt and Adrieanna Silveira; and Mrs. Shaw: Jenny Chase and Carol Garland.
    “We just couldn’t do it without your help,” grade 3 teacher Miss Dunton said in thanking her volunteers Rebecca Casey, Whitten, Makowski, Lisa Anderson, Monica Demers and Topolski. Other third-grade volunteers were Mrs. Johnston: Trisha Higgins, Laura Reed, Penny Gourde, Skip MacDonald, Dan Sharrow, Cara Fuller and Heather Harmon-Weeks; and Mr. Mowrey: Sarah Plante.
    For grade 4 several students came forward to recognize the volunteers for these three classrooms. Mrs. Buerger: Ned Garner; Ms. Noether: Grammie Sudsbury, Sarah Plante, Peter Eldredge, Dan Porter and Rhoda; and Mrs. Page: Grammie Kenniston.
    “I would like to recognize three volunteers who did amazing work this year, helping keep the library organized and helping the students who come in to look for books,” Librarian Gayle Peirce said as Rhoda, Monica Warren and Alysson White were the three literacy volunteers.
    “I have one volunteer who helps me every week distribute fluoride to grades K-4,” School Nurse Emily Poland said about Monica Demers.
    “We have six remarkable children who come in every day,” Secretary Chrissy Goodine said about the half dozen student volunteers who perform tasks such as wateing the plants, taking out the recycling and bringing folders to classrooms.
    “I would like to say another special, special thank you to all of you out here,” Kimball said to close the presentation. “We couldn’t do what we do without you.”
