Baird, Buerger earn gold on National Latin Exam

lo-latinbaird-dcX-po-21lo-latinbuerger-dcX-po-21    DOVER-FOXCROFT — Thirty four of Foxcroft Academy Latin teacher Peter Hartel’s students were among the group of 1,059 high school students from Maine who took the 2013 National Latin Exam in March. Adam Baird ’15 (left) and Katie Buerger ‘14 (right)  were two of the state’s 47 students to post a score worthy of gold summa cum laude distinction.

    Eighty-three Maine students earned silver maxima cum laude distinction, and this group included Hailey Wellington ‘15, Sean Cody ‘15, Mae Vo ‘13 and Winnie Li ‘13. In addition, Julia Annis ‘15, Zach Lamb ‘15 and Brittany Sletterink ‘13 were among the 91 Maine students to finish magna cum laude while Connor Jones ‘16 and Dexter Canning ‘15 were among the 78 students in the state to score in the cum laude range.
    All of these students will be honored at an awards ceremony in early June.
