Many of the students from the Foxcroft Academy international relations class represented the countries of Australia, Denmark, Mauritania and Peru, while one student acted as a non-governmental organization spokesperson and another as a member of the Press Corps. Foxcroft Academy is a founding member of the conference. The program attracts 450 middle and high school students from more than 20 schools who grapple with real-world international issues in sessions that simulate the UN to build global awareness. This year’s theme for the Maine Model United Nations Conference was youth empowerment and the rights of women and girls.
