Two legs to go in Pine Tree Hospice’s Triple Crown Golf Tournament

GOLF FORE HOSPICE — Danny White tees off during the first leg of the Pine Tree Hospice Triple Crown Golf Tournament May 5 at the Whitetail Golf Course in Charleston.   
The two foursomes hold narrow leads over several other groups including Ashley Jackins, Wayne Strout, Fred Andrews and Dana Fadley, who notched a -16 net to earn second-place net honors after the tiebreaker was applied, and will attempt to remain in front when play resumes at Dexter Municipal Golf Course on Sunday, May 19.
    The Triple Crown Tournament, which will feature a grand prize for the overall winner and enable 10 players to qualify for a $50,000 shootout, will conclude on May 26 at Foxcroft Golf Club.

HOSPICE IS THE WINNER — Kevin Stitham was the winner of the 50/50 golf ball toss during the first leg of Pine Tree Hospice’s Triple Crown Golf Tournament on May 5 at the Whitetail Golf Course in Charleston. The tournament will include dates at the Dexter Municipal Golf Course on May 19 and the Foxcroft Golf Club on May 26.  
     Eleven teams participated in the first leg at Whitetail, and 28 of the 43 competitors have already signed up in play in all three rounds. Teams that missed out on the first round at Whitetail are more than welcome to play at either of the two remaining locations, and individual prizes will be awarded at each course.
    The cost is per player per round, and the entry fee includes a delicious lunch.
    Prize winners at Sunday’s opening venue included the following: Campbell, Stockley, Dewitt and Porter ($50 club credit at Whitetail); Jackins, Strout, Andrews and Fadley (18 holes at Dexter Municipal); Jim Costedio, Shane Baxter, Andy Bandola and Rick Sherburne ($25 gift certificates to Dave’s World for the lowest gross); Matt Spooner (qualified for the $50,000 shootout by being closest to the pin on hole two); Bart Merrill (golf umbrella for being closest to the pin on hole five); Dana Fadley (nine holes at Lakeview for the longest male drive on hole eight); Peggy Glover ((nine holes at Lakeview for the longest female drive on ole eight); and Carl Brackett (most accurate drive on hole one).

ENJOYING THE SPREAD — A delicious lunch is part of each leg of Pine Tree Hospice’s Triple Crown Golf Tournament.  
     Kevin Stitham won the 50/50 golf ball toss and promptly donated his winnings to Pine Tree Hospice. In total, leg one of the tournament netted $1,572 for Pine Tree Hospice, which is hoping to raise a total of $6,500 for the entire Triple Crown Tournament.
    “We were pleased with the turnout at Whitetail,” said PTH Executive Director Jane Stitham. “We’re hoping for even more players in the coming weeks.”
