Asperino Toni DiMarco

Asperino Toni DiMarco, 84, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2016, in Bangor, after a long illness. He was born August 20, 1931, in Millinocket, the son of Berardino and Angelina (Cianchette) DiMarco.
Appie was raised in Millinocket and graduated from Stearns High School, class of 1949, where he excelled in athletics. He worked at Great Northern Paper Company as a pipefitter for 35 years before retiring and relocating with his wife, Sally, to the Bangor area. A great father and “Papa,” Appie was always out and about looking for deals at the local hardware stores and enjoying early morning breakfast with his coffee buddies, as well as weekend gatherings with family.
Appie is survived by four children: daughters, Julie Brown and husband, Ronald, of Millinocket and Mary Jane DiMarco of Winthrop; sons, Gary DiMarco and wife, Roxanne, of Gardiner and David DiMarco and wife, Hilda, of Hermon; and a special sister, Carmella Hikel. He is also survived by grandchildren, Andrea Tapley and husband, William, Jennifer DiMarco, Anthony DiMarco and wife, Alissa, Christopher DiMarco, Erin Lundy and husband, Noah, Chad Bryant, Tyler Grindle and Angelina DiMarco; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Appie was predeceased by his wife, Sally (Martell); son, John DiMarco; brothers, Peter, Armando and Dennis DiMarco; and sisters, Pauline Swanson and Josephine Coleman.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be a Mass of Christian burial and graveside memorial service to be announced at a later date. Those wishing to remember Appie in a special way may send gifts in his memory to the charity of their choice.
