Kain receives PCHS’ MPA Principal’s Award
GUILFORD — Piscataquis Community High School senior Noah Kain of Parkman has been selected to receive the 2026 Principal’s Award, Principal Lee Pearsall announced. He is the son of Brian and Amanda Kain. The award sponsored by the Maine Principal’s Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement, outstanding school citizenship and leadership.
Pearsall shared the following, “Noah is a leader both on and off the fields of Piscataquis Community High School. He leads with confidence and by example. Noah balances multiple varsity sports, honors and college-level coursework and a job outside of school, all while maintaining the high standards he sets for himself. Even in his senior year, Noah has not slowed down; he has maintained his commitment to academics, athletics and school citizenship, continuing to push himself straight through to the finish line. This year, he also chose to take part in a senior capstone project aimed at creating meaningful change in how athletics are represented at the school board level.
What distinguishes Noah is his character. Kindness is not something he performs when others are watching; it is something he lives every day. He takes time to speak with middle school students about sportsmanship, greets both students and staff with respect in the hallways, spends time tutoring younger high schoolers — including helping a freshman adjust to the academic rigors of high school — and consistently treats others with dignity. I recently read a reflection written by a classmate who shared that Noah was kind to him when others were not, helping bridge the gap toward acceptance. To be recognized in that way by a classmate says more about Noah than any list of accomplishments ever could.”
Kain and Pearsall will attend an honors luncheon with other award recipients and their principals at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer on April 11. This event recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of 10 $1000 scholarships in the names of former principals and the MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler and Richard A. Durost.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
