Dexter Age Friendly to host Senior Companion Program coordinator
DEXTER — At their monthly Tea Talks program on Thursday, March 12, Dexter Age Friendly will welcome Laurie Bishop. Bishop will introduce us to the Senior Companion Program. This worthwhile program aims to match volunteers 55 and older with senior adults. Many rural Maine adults are isolated and often do not have relatives living nearby to visit with them on a regular basis.

Bishop has been with the Senior Companion Program for two years. She has continued to learn and grow, helping her better understand the needs of older adults, create meaningful and engaging opportunities and communicate with compassion and clarity. By combining her long-standing professional experience with what she has learned through SCP, she hopes to strengthen and expand its reach throughout the state of Maine.
This program will be held March 12 at 1 p.m. at the town council chambers, 23 Main St. in Dexter. For more information, please call 207-924-7292.
