Three local athletes win indoor events

ORONO — The Foxcroft Academy and Penquis Valley High School indoor track and field teams concluded the regular season at a Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League meet of the regular season on Jan. 30 at the New Balance Field House on the campus of the University of Maine.

The Foxcroft Academy boys ended the day with a score of 28 points, good for sixth place among a field of 10 teams.

Pony senior Conner Donahue won the long jump with a distance of 20 feet, 6.75 inches. Donahue was 3.75 inches beyond the 20-03 for the event runner-up, Old Town High School sophomore Cullen Lothian.

Donahue also came in second in the 200 with a time of 25.08 seconds, trailing only the 24.86 seconds for Presque Isle High School junior Christopher Edgecomb.

Foxcroft junior Noah Ferioli finished second in the 2-mile in 10:57.82, behind just the 10:19.06 for Bucksport High School junior Connor Kedzierski.

Ferioli was also fifth in the mile with his time of 5:18.26.

Penquis Valley had 12 points in the boys meet to place ninth in the standings.

Patriot senior Jareth Williams ran the top time in the 55-meter finals, winning in 7.02 seconds. He was less than a tenth of a second faster than the 7.09 seconds for runner-up Bucksport freshman Zach Carrier.

Senior Sean Chenkin came in sixth in two events. Chenkin was sixth in the 55-meter finals at 7.67 seconds and sixth in the long jump at 18 feet.

In the girls’ meet, Foxcroft junior Jasmine Hall had the top shot put performance to account for all 10 Pony points as the team was ninth among 10 teams.

Hall threw the shot put 34-00.75. She bested the 29-09.50 for Hermon High School senior Addi Kenney by well over four feet.
