Dexter wrestling finishes second at PVC championship

DEXTER — The Dexter Regional High School wrestling team finished as the runner-up at the 2026 Penobscot Valley Conference championship on Jan. 24 in the Tigers’ home gymnasium.

Dexter ended the day with a score of 158 points, the second most among a dozen schools and trailing only the 176 points for Mattawcook Academy of Lincoln.

The Tigers’ Matthew Severance won the 132-pound title.

Five Dexter wrestlers came in second in their weight classes: Memphis Cole at 106 pounds, Quincy McClure at 113 pounds, Arsen Esenbekov at 144 pounds, Damiair Miller at 157 pounds and Tanner Ladd at 215 pounds.

Caleb Pelkey came in third at 150 pounds.

Aedin Chabuz was fourth at 190 pounds.

Foxcroft Academy came in third at the PVC championship with 121 points.

The Ponies’ Hayden Hanson won the 150-pound championship.

Giorgi Tskrialashvili finished second at 132 pounds, and Nicholas McCorrison was third at 138 points.

Five Foxcroft wrestlers came in fourth in their respective weight classes: Salvatore Rizzitello at 106 pounds, Charles Keeton at 144 pounds, Nicholas Thompson at 157 pounds, Alex Hanson at 165 pounds and Jacobi Poire at 175 pounds.

Piscataquis Community High School came in ninth at the competition with 41 points.

The Pirates’ Brady Ball won the 165-pound championship, and in doing so earned PVC Wrestler of the Meet honors.

Abel Currier came in third at 132 pounds for PCHS.
