Barnard Forest snowshoe event

BARNARD TOWNSHIP — The Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District is excited to be teaming up with the Appalachian Mountain Club for a fun, family-friendly snowshoeing event.

This event will be held at AMC’s Barnard Forest from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28. There is a weather date scheduled for March 1, same time and location. For more information about AMC’s Barnard Forest, please visit this link: https://www.outdoors.org/conservation/priorities/barnard-forest/. Folks who register for this event will receive GPS coordinates for where we will meet.

PCSWCD has been offering snowshoeing programs at our property, the Law Farm Nature Trails, for a number of years now and this year, we decided to take this program on the road and showcase the Barnard Forest. This property offers the public acres of woods and waters to explore and a place to enjoy outdoor recreation. For this program, there will be wildlife tracks to see and identify, we will learn about the history of the property and as always, have a good time! This program is designed to offer something for the beginner and the snowshoeing expert, so all are welcome!

PCSWCD looks forward to seeing you out at the Barnard Forest for this fantastic event. Spaces are limited and you must pre-register to join us. There is a small fee per person, which helps support PCSWCD educational programming.

To register, please visit our website at www.piscataquisswcd.org. We look forward to seeing you on Feb. 28.
