Bangor Christian tops Penquis in two meetings of Patriots
MILO — The Bangor Christian School swept a girls/boys afternoon doubleheader at Penquis Valley High School on Saturday, Jan. 3. In matchups of Class D North programs sharing a Patriot mascot, the Patriots based in Penobscot County won the girls game 64-12 and then the Bangor Christian boys followed with a 63-28 victory.
The Bangor Christian girls — the team improved to 10-0 now beyond the halfway point of the regular season — jumped out to a 10-2 lead after the first quarter and were ahead 40-6 at the half as the team surrendered its lowest point total of the season. The Patriots gave up 13 points in an 87-13 victory vs. Stearns High School of Millinocket in the 2025-26 opener.
Sophomore Annie Allen scored eight of her game-high 17 points in the second quarter and she had another seven in the fourth.

Bangor Christian senior Mary Allen and freshman Rivers Bradford recorded 13 points apiece, with both picking up seven in quarter No. 2.
Penquis senior Brooklyn Decker led her team with nine points on four shots from the floor and a free throw.
Junior Ashley Ladd made a shot from the post for two points in the first quarter and sophomore Ava Harmon sank a foul shot in the fourth quarter.

The Patriots of Milo are now 1-5.
In the boys game, Bangor Chrisian led 11-6 after eight minutes of play and then had a 21-4 advantage in the second quarter to help the squad improve to 7-2. Penquis is 0-7.
Bangor Christian junior Rajon Reed led all players, in both games, with 19 points. He picked up 10 points in the second including on a pair of 3-points as the Patriots sank five shots from behind the line in the second and eight overall in the game.

Penquis senior Jake Haffenreffer led his team with 10 points on five shots from or near the low post.
Junior Brodie Lovejoy and sophomore Jacoby Landry scored eight points each, with Landry connecting twice from behind the arc during the third quarter for half of his team’s 12 points in this block of game time.

Senior Michael Coburn hit a jumper in the second quarter for two as four of five starters accounted for all 28 points.
The teams are scheduled to play at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor on Saturday, Jan. 31 with the girls tipping off at 5 p.m. and the boys contest to follow at around 6:30 p.m.
