Based on the 1899 Australian novel of the same name by Ethel Pedley, originally published in 1899, with book by Daniel Stoddart, music by Daniel Mertzlufft and lyrics by Kate Leonard, Stageworks’ production of “Dot and the Kangaroo JR.” will lead audiences on a beautiful journey into the world and spirit of Australia beginning Jan. 9.
Young, rambunctious Dot longs for an adventure exploring everything the country has to offer. When she finds herself lost and afraid in the darkening Australian bush, Dot befriends a wise mother Kangaroo who enlists the help of Australia’s favorite bush creatures to help Dot find her way back home. A charming tale full of quirky Aussie-native characters, “Dot and the Kangaroo JR.” transforms the endearing story that transfixed generations past into a fresh, new adventure for generations to come.
RSU 68 (SeDoMoCha)’s drama program has been producing plays and musicals for numerous years at Central Hall. Its most recent productions include “Wonka”, “Alice in Wonderland” and “Newsies”. Director David Murray is pleased to present “Dot and the Kangaroo JR.” as the latest offering and is looking forward to the Piscataquis County community and surrounding areas to see the very talented students from grades 1-8 showcase their talents and entertain with the loving, fun story of Dot and her kangaroo!
