GREENVILLE — An early morning fire damaged Greenville’s historic Masonic lodge.
The fire broke out between 1 and 2 a.m. at the lodge on Pritham Avenue, according to the Moosehead Lakeshore Journal.
Video and photos from the scene showed flames roaring up from the lodge’s roof.
The lodge has loomed over Pritham Avenue since its construction in 1929, paid for by merchant Arthur Crafts.
Pritham Avenue reopened about 5 a.m., the Greenville Firefighters Association reported.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage weren’t immediately available Monday morning. The Maine fire marshal’s office is assisting with the investigation, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.
