PCHS’ Edes earns top high jump honors
ORONO — The Piscataquis Community High School indoor track and field team opened the 2025-26 Penobscot Valley Conference-Eastern Maine Indoor Track League season during a meet on the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 6 at the University of Maine’s New Balance Field House.
The Pirate girls scored 16 points to tie Bangor Christian for seventh place among a field of eight schools.
Sophomore Ava Edes had the top high jump performance. Edes cleared a height of 4 feet, 10 inches to earn first-place honors, two inches more than the 4-08 for runner-up John Bapst Memorial High School of Bangor sophomore Maggie Robichaud.
Edes was also fourth in the 55-meter hurdle finals with a time of 10.33 seconds.
PCHS sophomore Ella Zeller had a fifth-place throw in the shot put at 24-10.25.
The Pirate boys scored 10 points to tie Ellsworth High School for eighth place among nine teams.
Junior Phoenix Brown placed third in the triple jump with his distance of 36-07.
Sophomore Oliver Luckovskis came in fourth in the 800 with his time of 2:15.22.
