Vote for voter ID

To the Editor;

I’m writing to encourage support for voter ID. Many citizens of Maine have made it clear that they desire stronger elections in our state and have put this on the ballot themselves. Thousands of signatures have been collected through a citizen’s initiative to get this done.

On three occasions I had the opportunity to collect signatures. Not only did the majority of people I spoke with support this effort but there were many comments that referred to it “being about time” or that ” it just makes good sense.”

There are 36 other states effectively requiring ID at their polls to increase transparency and accountability. Let’s get Maine caught up.

What if you forget your ID? No problem. You would have four days to verify your identity. Can’t afford an ID? Not a problem. The new law ensures a process to provide a free one. Other questions or concerns? Visit VoterIDforME.com.

Please join me in restoring trust and confidence in our elections by voting “yes” on Nov 4.
