Piscataquis Democrats host Fall Fundraising Dinner 

MILO — Piscataquis Democrats and their guests gathered for their annual Fall Fundraising Dinner at the Three Rivers Kiwanis building  in Milo on Saturday, Oct. 4. The menu celebrated our neighbors to the South and North and featured a variety of tacos and maple bread pudding along with Mexican and Canadian beer in the hospitality corner. 

The program was emceed by Chris Almy of Charleston and guests enjoyed a social time and much laughter. Mattie Daughtry, D-Brunswick, president of the Maine Senate addressed the group offering inspiring remarks about unity and hope as well as tips for engaging in conversations about the upcoming elections. 

Daughtry assisted Andrea Thurlow, chair of the Piscataquis Democrats Service Committee, in auctioning an Amish basket full of pickles and jams to benefit the Piscataquis Regional Food Center. As of this time, Piscataquis Democrats have provided over $11,000 in support of the PRFC. Other activities of the evening included a 50/50 drawing and an auction of handcrafted hats by Sue Chase of Monson who dedicated the proceeds to the service committee in support of the food center.
