Big plays help Foxcroft earn Homecoming win over Old Town
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Foxcroft Academy had five touchdowns on five plays each totaling at least 25 yards in a 35-0 victory over Old Town High School in the 2025 Homecoming game on Friday, Sept. 19.
The Ponies improved to 2-1 with the teams’ second consecutive victory and dropped the Coyotes to 0-3.
The shutout is the first of 2025 for both squads.
Foxcroft never got into the red zone, the Coyote 25-yard line was the furthest the Pony offense drove down the field for the line of scrimmage, but the team had no need to.

TACKLE FOR 4-YARD LOSS — Foxcroft Academy senior Aidan Bryant brings down Old Town sophomore Charlie Degrasse for a loss of four yards during the first possession of the second half of the Ponies 2025 Homecoming game on Sept. 19. Foxcroft won 35-0 to improve to 2-1.
Old Town elected to defer and Foxcroft brought the opening kickoff to the team’s own 33-yard line.
On first down senior Lucas Sands got past the coverage to be wide open at midfield. Junior quarterback Evan Seavey connected with Sands and after making the catch the receiver ran all the way for the 67-yard touchdown.
The two had another touchdown play starting from inside Pony territory with this one coming in the final minute of the opening half. With the ball at Foxcroft’s 48 Sands made the reception and he ran down the right sideline 52 yards to help the Ponies go up 14-0.
Sands finished the night with game-high five receptions for 141 yards and two touchdown catches, also catching the ball on defense for an interception. Seavey was 12-of-17 for 221 yards and three touchdown passes.

KNOCKED LOOSE — Senior Aiden Harvey knocks the football out of Old Town junior Brandon Schanz’s grasp on a 3rd-and-14 in the opening quarter to force a punt.
On the first possession of the second half, Old Town faced a 3rd-and-16 from the Coyote-21. Junior Ethan Closson dropped back to pass and he threw over the middle. Pony senior Simon Turzik picked off the football at the 30-yard line and returned it down the left for the touchdown.
On the next series Sands made his interception to help limit Old Town’s chances to get on the scoreboard. Sands’ pick set the Foxcroft offense up at the opposition’s 37.
Four plays later, including a 4th-and-1 conversion run by Seavey, put the ball at the 25-yard line. Here Seavey found junior Aiden Sickler open on a short pass. Sickler broke a tackle to go 25 yards for the score. Sickler caught three passes for 59 yards.
In the fourth quarter Turzik took a shotgun snap at the Old Town-48. He ran right down the sideline, at one point jumping over a would-be tackler, 52 yards for the touchdown. Senior Aiden Harvey’s third PAT of the game made the score 35-0 and set up running time.

BIG PLAY NIGHT — Pony senior Simon Turzik rushes for six yards late in the first quarter. He would later have a 52-yard touchdown as all five Foxcroft touchdowns came on plays of at least 25 yards, including a 30-yard interception return for a score by Turzik.
The play helped Turzik finish with a game-high 50 rushing yards on six carries. He also caught a pair of passes for a half dozen yards and had two touchdowns on the run and his interception.
Next up for Foxcroft will be a road contest against York High School (the Wildcats will enter with a record of 0-3 having been shut out in weeks 1 and 2 and falling 58-12 at Leavitt Area High School of Turner in week 3) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28. York is a new addition to the Pony schedule this season under the new look statewide Class C.
With York’s regular home field under construction the game against the team from Dover-Foxcroft will be held across the state line in Dover, New Hampshire on the turf at Our Lady of Victory Stadium on the campus of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in what is likely the first-ever Foxcroft football game to be played outside of Maine and includes one of, if not, the longest road trips in program history.

HOLDING, OFFENSE — Senior Landon Smith tackles Old Town sophomore Charlie Degrasse with Pony senior Aidan Bryant (54) and junior Tyler Wing closing in. Old Town would be flagged for holding on the play, one of a dozen penalties called against the team for over 100 yards.
