
UMaine Extension to host webinar on building a healthy, productive beef herd
University of Maine Cooperative Extension is offering an educational webinar on beef cattle health with Maine-based veterinarian Kelsey Hilton at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18.
“Beef Cattle Health and Preventive Veterinary Care” will cover important considerations and recommendations on maintaining healthy, productive and resilient beef herds. Dr. Hilton will cover core herd health principles, including vaccination schedules, parasite management, nutrition’s role in disease prevention and early detection of common illnesses. Participants will learn practical strategies to work with a veterinarian in building a proactive herd health plan that reduces losses and improves animal well‐being. The webinar will include a live, moderated question-and-answer session.

This webinar is part of a grant funded by USDA National Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Program in collaboration with the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Animal Health Program.
