The official website for Maine high school sports in under construction

By Larry Mahoney, Bangor Daily News Staff

The Maine Principals’ Association website is an important source of information for high school sports enthusiasts in the state that provides access to team schedules, scores and rankings.

But that familiar site for sports fans now has a different look, and is a work in progress after the MPA has turned to a new company to manage it.

The MPA administers interscholastic sports across Maine.

Mike Bisson, the assistant executive director of the MPA, said software company rSchoolToday used to produce the website but was bought out by another company that was phasing out some pieces of the previous rSchoolToday product. That meant the MPA needed to make a change.

“We decided to go in a different direction,” Bisson said.

That different direction has resulted in a new look — and in some cases, different functionality — for the MPA website as it continues to be updated.

The MPA has hooked up with Fusion Point for the website and all game scheduling. Fusion Point began building the new platform this summer and it is still in the works.

Unlike the previous version, it is currently missing archived Heal Points standings, playoff/tournament results and state championship game results. But Bisson said those elements are in the process of being added.

And a long-term goal is to include rosters that the old website didn’t carry after the Covid years.

“We just have to get the schools back in the habit of putting their rosters on the page,” Bisson said.

He couldn’t reveal terms of the deal because they haven’t finalized it yet, but said it is going to be a “really nice change” for the MPA site.

Bisson said that Fusion Point has a good connection with state organizations like the MPA, and understands how to make their work more user friendly.

“We’re very happy with it,” Bisson said. “I think people will find it easy to use.”
