
63-year-old inmate at Mountain View Correctional Facility dies

CHARLESTON — A 63-year-old man who was sentenced to 30 years in prison died at the Mountain View Correctional Facility on Aug. 28
Brandon Drewry’s death at around 10:20 a.m. was attended by medical personnel, according to the Maine Department of Corrections. The state attorney general and medical examiner’s office have been notified of his death.
Drewry was sentenced in April 2007 after being found guilty of kidnapping, gross sexual assault and threatening with a dangerous weapon. The woman that Drewry was found guilty of assaulting testified that he choked, beat and repeatedly assaulted her over a period of hours, the Lewiston Sun Journal reported at the time.
The earliest Drewry would have been eligible for release under custody would have been April 9, 2031.
