A man who was reported missing early Saturday, Aug. 23 in Piscataquis County was found trapped in a vehicle off Route 15.

Dispatchers with the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing person at about 1:30 a.m. The man had last been seen leaving Greenville Junction at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22 heading north on Route 15, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputy Kyle Wilson drove north on Route 15 to the county line to look for the vehicle. On his way back, around 2:45 a.m., he found it crashed some distance from the road, with no obvious marks to indicate an accident. The driver was still inside.

Greenville Fire Department and Northern Light C.A. Dean Ambulance responded. The driver, who had been trapped for about six hours, was extricated and taken to the hospital for treatment.

Speed was a contributing factor in the crash, the sheriff’s office said.
