GFWC/Miosac Club news
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Eleven members of the GFWC/Miosac Club enjoyed a wine and cheese party at the home of Vice President Minnie McCormick. The club is on hiatus for the summer but we still do things and make plans for upcoming events. Regular meetings will resume in September.
A discussion of having a “guest dinner” was had for potential new members to learn about the club, what we do and projects we are involved in!
GFWC is an International Women’s Volunteer Service Club. We have clubs in many foreign countries. Our State President Suzanne Raymond will travel to Utah for the national board meeting. GFWC/Maine has a spring convention and a fall conference.
Another topic was the National Day of Service on Sept. 27. Several Maine clubs will be participating in”I Support the Girls.”We will be collecting gently used bras, underwear, socks and menstrual hygiene products for Maine women who are in need. We also thrive to help end domestic violence, we also support local causes.
President Laurie Ducat will hold another informal meeting at her summer home in September before regular meetings reconvene.
Any woman interested in becoming a member or learning more can call Anne at 207-717-7576, Minnie McCormick at 207-564-2663 or Suzanne at 207-717-4193.
